Winter is Coming!

In celebration of Game of Thrones' season premier...

More Easter!

Since it was a nice day today, we decided to take a small stroll in the front yard :)

Happy Easter!

Business first. Party after. Happy Easter to all! Except maybe not Sticky... sorry.. your nails were getting long. But hurray for some Easter love!

Doug's Visit

Douglas and Emily came to visit last week on Pi day after we went to True Confections for some casual pie celebrations. Truth. We celebrated Pi day.
And they got along swell.

Redecoration

Woke up. She had moved her wheel, the newspaper I line the cage under the wheel with, her igloo to the middle of the cage, her ball wound up inside her cage, the yogurt container... just everything.

Candid of the day... or rather, from 19 Feb

A rather late addition. This I took on my phone. Sometimes after I put Sticky back in her cage, she burrows around to create a little cabin for herself... today she dug too deep

First Visit to the Vet

Annnnd today we had our first vet visit. I had fed Sticky a grape or two because a lot of other hedgehog owners say that grapes can be used for treats. BUT... then Sticky started to eat hardly anything, poop less (obviously), and poop green stool... which isn`t good. I then learned that hedgehogs can get renal liver or organ failure problems if they eat grapes so i basically freaked the holy mother out and took her to the vet.

When I took her to the vet, though, the vet basically told me that Sticky was perfectly fine, was a normal weight, good demeanour, looks healthy and all... and that grapes eaten in high quantities cause problems but it`s fine since I basically gave her one grape every maybe 4 or 5 weeks anyway. They`re just dangerous because sometimes they get caught on the roof of the hedgehog`s mouth and cause mayhem.

So basically crisis averted... except that she was sooo hyperactive at the vet`s but that`s not really anything to worry about.

Oh God, I hope nobody thinks I`m a terrible pet owner. It`s hard trying to raise a hedgehog blindly. I only fear the day I start popping out kids (just kidding). I need more friends with hedgehogs.

... but at least now I have her on file at a vet`s just in case. Silver lining! (which is by the way an amazing movie).

While waiting for our appointment, two dog owners were shocked to find a hedgehog sitting next to their pets. I always love seeing the reaction of people who are shocked to find out I have a hedgehog or meet Sticky for the first time haha - it`s a small shred of amusement I get

And thank you, Cypress St. Animal Hospital!

The Unfortunate Mishap of Toe Trimming

I really need to find a more efficient way of updating this blog because as of right now, I can only update it from this desktop which is not accessed during midterms, when I am purely on my laptop or in my textbooks. But anyway, a little bit of an update with pictures (unfortunately I haven`t taken too many of late because I`ve only been playing with Sticky sans camera due to the craze of being mid term.... but here is the day I enlisted help to trim her toe nails... the only way I can now get her toe nails trimmed).

(Also, the reason why it looks like she`s been doing lines is because Matthew snipped a tad bit too far and so that`s corn starch that we consequently accidentally got all over her)
