Crisis Averted

It's been a pretty busy week with Sticky - so much so that I've neglected to post any updates about her. So during her last bath time Sticky, who is getting quite large now, somehow squirmed out of my hands and plopped into the sink she gets baths in. It wasn't a great fall but it was enough to chip off one of her nails. Probably one of the scariest moment of our lives together because this her toenail started bleeding and became slightly inflamed the next day:

She didn't run on her wheel the first night (noted by the absence of poop on the wheel) and she barely ate or drank water. However, after some TLC and some careful attention and first aid on her foot, all is well. PHEW.

and this is how we know she is better... the crazy climbing

Quill you be my Valentine

Part II of Valentine's Day - After dinner

When we came home from dinner, we went to go see Sticky again before starting a movie - I just put on the same shirt to play with Sticky since she has knack of scratching and ruining nice things. You'll notice that most of the time I just wear t-shirts when I let her run all over me. This is not a coincidence.

I love it when she starts to uncurl. She starts wiggling around and it's the best thing in the world.

Valentine's Day!

Part I of Valentine's Day - Before dinner

Sooo it's Valentine's Day. And even though I have no pictures from my plans with the ol' ball and chain, here are pictures with my other, littler love.

(But first look at this keychain. It's the same one that I have that I featured on a post a little while earlier but instead of a bow in its hair it has a bow tie. That's Matt's key. I'm making him use it... :) he says it's embarrassing but I say it's CUTE).

Ignore the rash-looking thing on my hand. It's actually fading henna from that event I was volunteering at a while ago. It seems like such a great idea at the time and then after a while you're like dammit, why?

Potty Training

I'm potty trained now.

Raise the roof!

(I'm sorry that this picture of poop is slightly disturbing... and that there is more than a fair share of poop pictures on this blog)

Hurray for study dates and manicures!

Marie came over for a study party today and we spent our study break with a ball of quills (we also had to mildly bathe her first though since she had a little bit of unmentionables on her footsies). But first of all, I just want to say way to go to Marie Poppins. I'm actually so proud of you for holding Sticky because I know she was being a bit of a creep today and it's difficult trying to hold a ball of needles that's squirming. Not everyone has had the courage to hold her so CONGRATULATIONS and welcome to the Sticky family.
Also, today was another manicure day. This time I got Matt to help out (thank you). Unfortunately, he dug a little deep because Sticky kept squirming and her nail had a spot of blood (but no worries, this happens and is a purely normal thing according to other hedgehog owners... it was just a spot of blood that even we get sometimes when the clippers get a little aggressive).

ANYWAY, poor Sticky... but she looks so cute when she's upset (I feel terrible for saying so but look at her).

Love you, hedgehog. *** also, Sticky bit me for the first time today... how do you easily trim a hedgehog's nailsssssss?

Visit from Lindsay

Slowly building up to the day Lindsay will be able to pick her up.

Thursday

When I pick her up, chances are there are shavings stuck to her back... but it's a challenge to clean her and remove them because she has mild panic attacks
So usually when she starts running around the counter, there comes a time when she runs down the sink after we block her from incessantly trying to run herself off the tabletop. Then it's just a game of "how many times can I try and escape before Erin saves me".
Game changer: Baby hedgehog climbs out! Clearly getting too big :(
Some casual texting...
She has a shoe fetish
Thank you, camera man, for putting up with a very minimally entertaining hedgehog.
